“Jenny Humphrey who used to sit in Brooklyn and watch the lights across the water. Who went toe-to-toe with Blair Waldorf and actually won her respect. You can’t tell me that girl’s not still in there.”
“I want to be who I am because, if I lose that, then what am I doing this for? It’s not about fitting in. If you don’t fit in as yourself, then you don’t fit in.”
When it comes to songwriting, what is your inspiration?
"My lyrics are actually based off of my thoughts.(…) Something that is a recurring theme is self-empowerment. I guess, like everybody, I have my insecurities and I don’t like to feel like a pushover. So if there is ever a situation where I feel like someone might be taking me for granted, or what’s the word, taking advantage of me, that’s something I always write about because I feel really strongly about standing up for yourself. And not letting other people’s opinions of you affect your happiness and the way you approach life.”
